What We Cover

Every service your deck needs to survive Mauritius's tropical climate — salt air, UV, and wet season moisture.

Timber Deck Sanding

We machine-sand weathered hardwood decks back to clean, fresh timber — removing grey oxidation, surface stains, raised grain and old failing oil. The right prep work is everything; a properly sanded deck holds its oil twice as long. We work with merbau, teak, iroko and other hardwood species common in Mauritius villa builds.

Deck Oiling & Re-Sealing

We apply penetrating hardwood oil suited to Mauritius's intense UV and coastal humidity — not a surface varnish that peels, but an oil that feeds the timber from within. Most west coast decks need re-oiling every 12–18 months. We do the full job: clean, light sand, two coats. We'll tell you honestly when it's due again.

Composite Deck Repairs

Composite boards develop issues over time — warped boards from poor ventilation, faded sections, loose or popped fixings, board end cracking, mould in the grooves. We diagnose first, then fix properly. For resort-grade composite installations we carry replacement board stock and matching fixing systems.

Salt Air & Weathering Damage

Properties on the Tamarin bay or Flic en Flac beachfront face accelerated degradation from salt-laden air. We inspect fixings for corrosion, check substructure bearers and joists, treat affected timber, and replace stainless or galvanised fixings that have started to rust through. Catching this early saves the cost of a full rebuild.

Full Deck Restoration

When a deck has been neglected for several seasons, a single oil won't cut it. Full restoration means stripping back to bare timber, repairing or replacing damaged boards, addressing the substructure where needed, and finishing with a fresh oil system. We do the honest assessment upfront — sometimes restoration is right, sometimes replacement makes more financial sense.

Resort & Villa Maintenance Contracts

For resort properties, IRS villas, and managed estates in Tamarin, we offer scheduled maintenance contracts — typically an annual or bi-annual visit covering inspection, sanding where needed, full re-oil, fixing check and composite cleaning. Your deck stays guest-ready year round without you having to think about it.

How a Maintenance Visit Works

1

Site Assessment

We come to you — Tamarin, Flic en Flac, or anywhere on the west coast. We inspect the deck boards, substructure, fixings, and balustrade, then give you a straight summary of what's needed and what it will cost. No obligation.

2

Preparation

Thorough clean to remove mould, salt residue and dirt. Machine sand timber decks back to clean wood. For composite, we deep-clean grooves and check for ventilation issues causing warping.

3

Repair & Treatment

Replace any damaged boards, re-seat loose fixings, treat salt-corroded hardware. Apply two coats of penetrating hardwood oil to timber decks. Repair composite boards as needed.

4

Final Check & Schedule

We walk you through what was done and give you a recommended maintenance schedule going forward — typically 12–18 months for timber, longer for composite. We can book the next visit before we leave if you want it locked in.
